Chris Norris recently joined Hannah Murray on Talk Radio Europe’s Book Club to discuss his debut novel, Fractured Healer – a moving contemporary love story set in middle age. Known for his 14 acclaimed books on physiotherapy and exercise, Chris shared how shifting from non-fiction to fiction opened new creative and emotional doors.
“When you write non-fiction, you’re quoting facts and research — but with fiction, you’re creating from imagination,” Chris explained. “It’s incredibly therapeutic.”
Drawing from over 40 years as a physiotherapist and educator, Chris revealed that Fractured Healer grew from his deep understanding of human resilience and emotional recovery. The novel follows Liz McLennan, a successful surgeon whose professional achievements contrast with her personal loneliness. Through Liz’s journey, and the interconnected lives of those around her, the story explores themes of healing, self-esteem, and rediscovering love.
“Liz is the healer who’s fractured herself,” Chris said. “She helps others mend, but must learn to heal her own life.”
Listeners also heard Chris reflect on how readers’ responses have been profoundly rewarding. Many have reached out to share how the novel resonated with their own experiences of self-reflection and renewal.
Encouraged by the reception, Chris hinted that Liz’s story isn’t over, a continuation and new works exploring similar emotional landscapes are already in the pipeline.
